The first book in the Heart First Series is a personal memoir that follows my would-be college years as I experiment with psychedelics, am voluntarily homeless, and hitchhiking my way to what I’m certain will be a brighter future for myself. Spiritual lessons are learned throughout my ill-planned travel adventures as I aspire to rise above limiting belief systems such as getting a “real job” or relying on money. Set in the 1990’s counterculture, Heart First is written in a comical narrative that weaves current topics of interest such as altered states and self-fulfillment into my exploits as I journey through Alaska, Mexico, Thailand & Central America.
The second book in the Heart First Series picks up where I left off in book #1 (as well as stands alone), traveling to Ecuador by myself on a one-way ticket with no guide book and no idea where I’m going. More growth is added to my free-spirited adventures when I leave the U.S. with my husband-to-be indefinitely to “live the dream” opening a small business somewhere in tropical paradise. Overwhelm sets in when the romantic lifestyle I had envisioned is turned upside down, and I’m forced to reevaluate my long held belief systems around money, success, and even myself.
